Powerhouse Collaboration: Mimer Design Team Joins Forces with Shipyard for Revolutionary 60m Concept

Tillberg Design of Sweden (TDoS), a division of The Viken Group, has announced that Turkish shipyard AES Yacht will build a new 60-meter explorer designed in collaboration with Laurence Giles.

The Mimer concept is intended to provide the “ultimate expedition experience” and is outfitted with a variety of specialized equipment, such as amphibious vehicles, beach carriages, and snowmobiles. The yacht is not yet under construction but could be completed within three years of contract signing.

Antonio Romano, the commercial director for The Viken Group, was ecstatic about the partnership due to the shipyard’s extensive expertise and expansive facilities. Romano remarked, “They can provide everything from steel and metal construction to furniture and interior design.” “Another important factor in our decision is that AES has available capacity and a slot for the Mimer project.”

World traveler, adventure explorer, and aviation explorer are the three available Mimer configurations. The world traveler configuration features an expanded beach club on the main deck, whereas the adventure explorer configuration has additional storage space for accessories such as automobiles and bicycles. The air explorer has the same layout as the world traveler, with the exception of a helicopter hangar replacing the rear guest accommodation.

The yacht’s Scandinavian-inspired interiors have been described as simplistic and minimalistic’ with a neutral color scheme. TDoS has also chosen panoramic floor-to-ceiling ports to let light into the yacht and highlight its light and airy interiors.

Meanwhile, the exterior design of the yacht challenges the traditional “aggressive” appearance of explorers. “We wanted to create the,’” explained TDos partner and yacht director Daniel Nerhagen.

Mimer will accommodate 12 visitors across six cabins, including an owner’s suite with a private jacuzzi located on the main deck. The 60-meter yacht also features a spa and gym on the lower deck aft, which can be outfitted with a sauna and exercise equipment without compromising the yacht’s ample tender and toy stowage.

In addition to the hybrid propulsion system, the sustainability of the materials used on board Mimer has also been given considerable thought. TSD has pledged to use “eco-friendly materials and local suppliers” whenever possible during construction and to apply “an eco-friendly antifouling agent to reduce drag and prevent species transfer.”

IYC has advertised Mimer for sale with an asking price of €65,000,000.
