Sarkodie: The Hardworking Rapper Who Balances Success, Joy, and Philanthropy

Sarkodie, the Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur, has achieved significant recognition in the music industry. Born on July 10, 1988, in Tema, Ghana, Sarkodie has been a prominent figure in Ghanaian music and has received numerous accolades for his contributions.

He was honored with the Vodafone Ghana Music Award for Artiste of the Decade, recognizing his exceptional work in Ghanaian music. In addition, Sarkodie made history by winning BET’s first Best International Flow act at the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Sarkodie is known for promoting the Azonto dance and genre, which has gained popularity in Ghana and beyond. His stage name, Sarkodie, carries a meaningful interpretation as “the people’s eagle,” with “Okodie” meaning eagle and “Sa” referring to the mass.

On July 17, 2018, Sarkodie privately married Tracy in Tema, Ghana. They have two children named Micheal Nana Yaw Owusu Addo Jnr. and Adalyn Owusu Addo.

Sarkodie is known for his luxurious taste in cars. While Range Rovers are not commonly seen in Ghana, Sarkodie owns both a Bugatti and a Range Rover, making him one of the few individuals in the country to drive these high-end vehicles.
