Live Like Miley Cyrus in the ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ Video: L.A. Home Listed for $16.5M

Miley Cyrus’s “Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)” opens with a classic California scene: a pool, a patio, places to lounge, walking paths surrounded by native plantings and Mid-Century Modern architecture. In addition, the white-clad pop chanteuse performs in front of the Santa Monica and San Gabriel mountains.

The home is now back on the market for $16.5 million in Chatsworth, a suburban neighbourhood in the San Fernando Valley.

The Farralone House was designed in 1951 for banking heiress Dora Hutchinson by renowned architect William Pereira. According to the listing with Mike Deasy of DPP Real Estate, it’s been a haven for celebrities since then, from Frank Sinatra (who lived there in the 1950s and 1960s) to Judy Garland and Lucille Ball.

In an email, Mr. Deasy, chairman of DPP, said, “Farralone presents a rare and brilliant hilltop exposition of the post-war California Bauhaus by a master architect.”

The nearly 14-acre estate, which has been used as a backdrop for “Mad Men” and “Dreamgirls” (2006), has been on and off the market for years. Mansion Global previously reported that it was listed in 2015 and again in 2018 and that it was on the market for $21.5 million in 2021. It was relisted last fall for $12.75 million, but an additional 7-acre plot with zoning for 10 new dwellings was not included, according to Mansion Global at the time. At the end of March, the entire estate was re-listed.

According to the listing, the home has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, hardwood and zebra cork floors, bright white interiors, built-in shelving, 16-foot ceilings, and retractable walls that lead to the outside. It overlooks the 1,325-acre meadowlands of Lake Chatsworth nature preserve, as well as multiple mountain ranges.

One wing of the house houses the dining room, kitchen, and three en-suite bedrooms, while the other houses the primary bedroom area. A pool house and gym are also available, as is a one-bedroom guest house with its own pool and a large motor court.

Ms. Cyrus, 30, also filmed the music video for her hit “Flowers,” which was released in January ahead of her full-length album, “Endless Summer Vacation,” which was released in March. She literally climbed the roof for the nighttime video, which was too dark to see much of the house. However, the house and grounds are fully featured in “Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions),” a 43-minute concert and interview with the singer that was also released last month.

According to property records, the current owner purchased the property in 1998 through a trust for $1.54 million. They could not be reached for comment right away.
