Before his first studio album, 2018’s #1 Billboard chart-topper “Not All Heroes Wear Capes,” Metro Boomin was a hip-hop entrepreneur.
The 28-year-old Missouri native, Leland Tyler Wayne, started composing beats in high school and networked with hip-hop musicians on Twitter.
After meeting Gucci Mane and Future online, he became famous eight years ago.
Metro has subsequently worked with Drake, Lana Del Rey, Kanye West, and Nicki Minaj.
His career highlights include Migos’ “Bad and Boujee,” which was certified 4x platinum and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Post Malone’s “Congratulations,” which was certified Diamond at 10x platinum.
“Savage Mode II,” a 2020 collaboration with 21 Savage, topped the Billboard 200.
The prolific hitmaker spent $4.9 M on an eccentric house after his breakthrough.
The flat-roofed, squat-looking house was erected on speculation by a local contractor and his wife in the guard-gated Bell Canyon subdivision in the San Fernando Valley’s furthest reaches.
