The actor from Top: Maverick donned a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin while walking the red carpet and chatting with film admirers at this year’s festival. The material and design of the timepiece make it adaptable.

 The model was introduced in 1996, but its roots date back to the 1970s. Vacheron Constantin designed the Ref. 222 to compete with the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus. Like its counterparts, the 222 represented a departure from the Swiss watchmaker’s refined timepieces. The watch has been revised numerous times since its inception 25 years ago, but it is an athletic and appealing timepiece.

Ultra-Thin Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Cruise’s 8.1 mm-thick ultra-thin watch shows his tuxedo at the Cannes premiere of the Top sequel, where he received a five-minute standing ovation. The 102,000-dollar chronograph features a 41.5 mm 18-karat white gold case, an incorporated bracelet, a blue display with a sunburst pattern, and a moon phase mechanism at 6 o’clock. The perpetual calendar mechanism maintains the day, date, and month displayed on the three sub-dials accurate for 78 years, even if you neglect to adjust them.

Cruise, who was only in Cannes long enough to premiere his new film and receive an honorary Palm d’Or, might find this last feature advantageous. The actor then traveled to Japan for the Top premiere and will presumably appear in the United States later this week before the film’s Friday release.
