Tom Ford, the fashion designer, just purchased the East Hampton mansion where Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis spent her childhood summers for $52 million. According to Compass Realty, this mansion was built in 1917 and is known as Lasata, which means ‘place of peace’ in Algonquin.
The 10-bedroom home, purchased in 1925 by Jackie’s grandpa, John Vernou Bouvier Jr., spans approximately seven acres and includes a two-bedroom guesthouse, a caretaker’s cottage, a pool house, and a three-car garage. The main house is surrounded by manicured grounds that include perfectly trimmed lawns, an orchard, and a flower meadow.
Take a look inside this historic mansion!
The living room has a fireplace accentuated with bespoke tiles. The box-panelled walls are complemented by beamed ceilings.
The dining room features floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with large windows looking out to the hedgerows.
A sitting area leads to the home’s outside amenities and the dramatic vaulted ceiling creates a feeling of lightness.
The white kitchen has old-school charm with Shaker cabinets, a bridge faucet, a rustic farmer’s sink and a minimalist worktable that subs for an island for food prep.
