The former New England Patriot stepped out onto the blue carpet to celebrate Fontainebleau’s Las Vegas grand opening on Wednesday, 16 years after the project broke ground. The luxury resort and casino’s swanky soirée had plenty of stars in attendance, including Keith Urban, Lenny Kravitz, and Kim Kardashian, but it was Brady who shined brightest.
The retired quarterback rocked a charcoal gray three-piece suit with a polka-dot tie and black dress shoes alongside a sophisticated Patek Philippe Grand Complications watch that brought the look to life.
The Sky Moon Tourbillon ref. 5002J-001 was inspired by the debut of the Star Calibre 2000 at the turn of the millennium. Patek was motivated by that 21-function pocket watch to launch a wristwatch spin-off in platinum by 2001. Brady’s 18-karat yellow-gold iteration followed and, like the rest of the Sky Moon Tourbillon collection, was retired by 2014. Its luxurious features are timeless.
Aside from its radiant gold case, the 42.8 mm model houses a white dial with Roman numerals alongside four subsidiary dials that indicate the day, month, leap year, and moon phases. The retrograde date display is done in an eye-catching red enamel, and the watchmaker’s classic “Patek Philippe Geneve” signature adorns the top of the watch face. The backside of Brady’s timepiece is transparent and topped by sapphire crystal for a clear view of its mechanical movement.
Brady isn’t the only one who likes the Sky Moon series. This past weekend, a Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon ref. 5002P-001 went up for auction through Christie’s, with experts estimating it would fetch between $1.2 million and $2.1 million; the timepiece eventually sold for $1.5 million, just above the low-sales estimate.
It’s not surprising that the NFL player would wear a model from such a desired line. We’ve already seen nine eye-catching watches on Brady’s wrist this year, ranging from Rolex to Richard Mille—and it’s only a matter of time before we see what else he unearths from his collection.
