Steven Spielberg’s ‘Seven Seas’: The Farewell to His 282-Foot Superyacht

The renowned film director has finally sold his enormous 282-foot yacht last week to an undisclosed buyer, as reported by Merle Wood & Associates. While the brokerage firm didn’t specify the exact sale price, the vessel, now named “Man of Steel,” had been listed earlier this year for $160 million. Thom Conboy of Denison Yachting represented the buyer, who is reportedly a long-time repeat client.

This blockbuster yacht, custom-built by the esteemed shipyard Oceanco according to Spielberg’s precise requirements, set sail for the first time in 2010. With a net worth of $3.7 billion, the Academy Award winner spared no expense in designing his dream yacht, and this marked the first time it was available for sale.

The opulent interior, crafted by Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen, spans four decks and provides ample space for hosting A-list gatherings. The yacht can comfortably accommodate 20 guests in nine lavish staterooms, along with a crew of 28. The standout feature is undoubtedly Spielberg’s owner’s suite, which includes a spacious stateroom with an ensuite bathroom and dressing room, an office, and a terrace with a private jacuzzi.

As expected, the “Seven Seas” yacht is brimming with amenities fit for Hollywood royalty, including oversized screens in every room and a fully-equipped movie theater. Other notable features include a sauna, steam room, gym, pool, extensive beach club, helipad, and numerous lounge areas and bars. Naturally, there’s a well-stocked garage housing a tender, speedboat, water toys, and diving gear.

Spielberg ensured that the “Seven Seas” lived up to its name over the past decade, taking the versatile superyacht to various corners of the globe’s seven seas. It has been seen sailing off the coast of France during the Cannes Film Festival and, more recently, cruising the waters near Antigua and Barbuda. The yacht’s transatlantic capabilities are courtesy of twin MTU engines, each delivering 4,680 horsepower. It can reach a top speed of 20 knots or cruise at a more leisurely 15 knots.

Now that Spielberg has concluded his time with the “Seven Seas,” enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting news of his next nautical masterpiece.
