South African singer-songwriter Zain Bhikha performs Islamic nasheed. Bhikha has collaborated on albums with other Muslim musicians, including Yusuf Islam and Dawud Wharnsby, and has also released several solo albums.

Bhikha occasionally performs with a drummer and several backup vocalists who portrayed African performers in The Lion King. A is for Allah, his 2000 album, has brought him widespread recognition.

 

On April 24, 2008, Bhikha participated in an annual international singing competition in Abu Dhabi called the Al Mahabbah Awards Festival. The aforementioned drummer and backing vocalists accompanied Bhikha. They performed Yusuf Islam’s “Peace Train” as one of their songs.
