The model was introduced in 1996, but its roots date back to the 1970s. Vacheron Constantin designed the Ref. 222 in order to compete with the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus. The perpetual calendar mechanism maintains the day, date, and month displayed on the three sub-dials accurate for 78 years, even if you neglect to adjust them.

 

 

Cruise, who was only in Cannes long enough to premiere his new film and receive an honorary Palm d’Or, might find this last feature advantageous. The actor then traveled to Japan for the Top premiere and will presumably appear in the United States later this week before the film’s Friday release.
