NBA Legend Dikembe Mutombo Lists Atlanta Mansion for $6.8M

In a surprising turn of events, basketball icon Dikembe Mutombo has made the decision to put his expansive Atlanta mansion up for sale. This move comes only a few months after Mutombo began treatment for a brain tumor in Atlanta. The former center’s diagnosis was made public in October 2022, and during that challenging time, his family requested prayers and well wishes. As of now, there have been no updates on his condition.

The remarkable mansion, boasting an impressive 11 bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms, is currently listed for $6.8 million. With an expansive 13,000 square feet of living space, the residence is situated on a sprawling 2-acre parcel.

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by soaring ceilings and a grand entrance adorned with twin staircases. The living room features an inviting fireplace, while the library showcases stunning built-in bookshelves. The kitchen, equipped with professional-grade appliances and a double oven, centers around a generously sized island.

Multiple fireplaces are strategically placed throughout the sitting rooms and the primary bedroom. The primary bedroom suite also offers a walk-in closet reminiscent of a high-end department store, along with a luxurious dual shower. For added convenience, there are laundry rooms on both levels to cater to the linens from the numerous bedrooms. Additional amenities include a salon, gym, home theater, sauna, game room, and an elevator.

Outside, the property offers a four-car garage for parking, along with a guesthouse. The outdoor features are equally impressive, encompassing a pool, kitchen area, basketball court, and playground.

Standing an imposing 7 feet tall, Mutombo enjoyed an illustrious 18-season career in the NBA, making a name for himself as an exceptional shot-blocker and winning the Defensive Player of the Year award four times. He was also selected as an eight-time All-Star.

After retiring from the NBA in 2009, Mutombo garnered recognition for his philanthropic efforts. He founded the Mutombo Foundation, dedicated to enhancing health and education in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
