Dr. Dre, the renowned rapper, songwriter, and producer, has sold one of his Los Angeles area residences in the Calabasas neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley for $6 million. He originally purchased the lavish mansion in spring 2018 for $5 million. The sale comes shortly after Dre agreed to sell certain music assets to Universal Music and Shamrock Holdings for over $200 million.
The estate, located in the guard-gated Mountain View Estates neighborhood, was built in the late 1990s and has since undergone major renovations costing close to a million dollars, transforming it into a showplace. The two-level living space spans almost 9,400 square feet and features six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
The home’s exterior is cream-colored stucco with a terracotta roof, and the interior boasts wide-plank oak flooring, soaring ceilings, designer light fixtures, and high-end granite, marble, and tile finishes.
A gated road leads to a motorcourt and an attached garage with space for at least eight cars. The property is situated on over three-quarters of an acre in a quiet cul-de-sac. The entryway features a double-height foyer with a spiral wrought-iron staircase leading to a formal dining room and a sunken living room with a dramatic fireplace and French doors opening to the outside.
The main floor also includes an expansive gourmet kitchen with an eat-in island, top-notch stainless appliances, a breakfast nook, and a built-in workstation. A spacious family room with a walk-in wet bar and seating is nearby. Other rooms in the house include a movie theater, wood-paneled office, beauty salon, and a lavish upstairs master suite with a fireside seating area, wraparound balcony, dual walk-in closets, and a luxurious bathroom.
The outdoor space is equally impressive, featuring grassy grounds with palm trees, a fire-pit lounge, a pool and spa surrounded by a flagstone sundeck, a patio kitchen, a pizza oven, a sport court, and a charming stone fountain, all with views of the picturesque hillside.
With the sale of this mansion, Dr. Dre continues to make headlines in both the music industry and real estate market.
