La La Anthony has returned to her starting point. The actress and former MTV VJ bought a new home in Brooklyn, the borough where she was born and nurtured, after divorcing Carmelo Anthony. For Architectural Digest, Anthony unlocked the whimsical home she and her teenage son enjoy.

“I reside in New York, a chaotic city that is always in motion. So I want to have that moment when I go home when I can just exhale and feel comfortable,” Anthony remarked. Anthony collaborated with interior designer Nikki Chu, Z Gallerie, and One Kings Lane to produce a home that combines her flirtatious femininity with an urbane Brooklyn ambiance. Of course, with ample room for her sizable family to visit.

Drew Doggett’s “Untitled 2: Omo” image, which features an African woman wearing these beads and necklaces around her neck, commands attention on the stairs. The item, according to Anthony, not only draws attention to that area of the house but also manages to attract her eye every day. It’s just a really strong piece. And for me, it was a very significant work of art. It’s African, it represents strength and power,” Anthony stated. The black-and-white object stands out among the room’s cheery pastel hues.

Anthony enjoys spending time on her comfortable sectional couch in the living room, which is a luxurious haven. With its vibrant pastel wallpaper all around, Anthony stated the atmosphere in the space “makes you feel awake, fresh, and fun.” All of this is a necessary component of accepting where she is in life, where the objective is to “surround myself with positivity and positive vibes.” The room embraces a glam air while still being cozy thanks to the hardwood floors, a silver Timber coffee table, and a gorgeous Leopardo statue.

A collection of Carmelo Anthony jerseys on the wall and blue and white decor in her 14-year-old son Kiyan’s room go together perfectly. “He’s going to high school, his dad’s jerseys are up on the wall, and his furniture feels a little bit more grown-up, but it still has the elements of a teenager’s room,” Anthony said. He is in awe at his room. Kiyan has a room that he can grow into as he gets older thanks to a leather bed and fun decorations.

Another unusual room is the dining room, which has Connect 4 and Tic-Tac-Toe boards made of metal and glass. Anthony initially doubted that they would be put to use, but she quickly learnt better. “When visitors arrived, everyone was playing a game like Connect 4 or Tic-Tac-Toe. There, visitors can be seen laughing, playing games, and drinking. For me, that is incredibly enjoyable. It was all part of Chu’s plan to design a room with lots of seating that looked like a hotel lobby or lounge.
