The ‘decadence’ catamaran, with its inflatable wing sails, looks like a rocket ship on the sea.

Andy Waugh was influenced by 1920s vehicle and aviation designs. His Decadence catamaran idea is inspired by a beautiful, minimalist spacecraft but larger and seaworthy. SWATH, or small waterplane area twin hull, is essentially a catamaran with submerged teardrop hulls joined to a central body. Andy Waugh’s design stabilizes the boat, making it safer and more enjoyable to cruise.

 

 

 

 

The 80-meter-long, 30-meter-wide “Decadence” yacht is capacious. Andy Waugh believes SWATH provides for distinctive interior layouts and places. The owner’s suite may be 20 meters wide, 30 meters long, and 3 meters tall. Each deck features enclosed spaces for privacy and weather protection. The catamaran’s submerged hulls house personnel and technical spaces, freeing up room for visitors. Inflatable wing sails within the cylindrical hulls allow the pilot to optimize the catamaran’s lift-to-drag ratio.
