Though Elizabeth Taylor passed away in March 2011 at age 79, the legendary star’s legacy lives on at this modern Palm Springs vacation home that she owned for almost a decade. Affectionately known as “Casa Elizabeth,” the star’s Coachella Valley vacation home comes complete with freshly updated spaces by her close friend Kathy Ireland. The Coachella Valley oasis is now on the market in the desert city of Palm Springs, asking for just under $5 million.
The low-slung structure rests on over a half-acre gated parcel in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood. It features four bedrooms and five baths spread across a little more than 4,200 square feet of single-level living space.
Modern and minimal, the open living spaces are defined by walls and a wood-clad fireplace. Highlights include an entry foyer that flows to an open-concept great room. Walls of glass provide a seamless indoor-outdoor experience and show off the cabana across the pool.
The open-concept great room is warmed by a fireplace encased in slatted wood.
An adjacent dining and entertaining area has a shallow bar area directly behind it for pre-dinner cocktails.
A casual dining area connects to a kitchen outfitted with sleek wood cabinetry, high-end appliances and an eat-in peninsula. A stepped tray ceiling is a glamorous touch.
The spacious primary suites have spa-inspired bathrooms with walk-out French doors to the secluded palm tree-laced grounds. Both baths also are accessible with walk-in showers and even offer access to a lush outdoor area.
The pool area provides scenic views of the San Jacinto Mountains. The waterfall-fed pool is flanked by a sundeck on one side and an open-air cabana on the other. A covered terrace is ideal for al fresco entertaining with a BBQ, refrigerator, sink and seated bar.
