Two condos at New York’s famous Plaza Hotel have been joined together to make an apartment that is more than 10,000 square feet and is for sale for $70 million. From the top of the more than 100-year-old landmark building, which has been in films like “Home Alone 2” (1992) and “The Way We Were” (1972), the house has a view of Central Park. The building was turned into condos about 15 years ago.”You can enjoy the view, the grandeur, and the romance of the Plaza Hotel in these two stunning penthouses that are next to each other,” says the listing from Nikki Field, Mara Flash Blum and Sara Marrache of Sotheby’s International Realty.

The living room is ‘flanked with magnificent marble’, and there is a study, a family room with a gas fireplace, and a chef’s kitchen with a skylight, an island, and a large pantry. The main suite is on its own level and has two bathrooms and two dressing rooms. It has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. Mansion Global reported at the time that the owners bought the triplex from British developer Christian Candy in 2017 for $32.7 million. The owners could not be reached for comment. Records show that it was briefly for sale as a single unit in November for $33 million. The listing also showed a nearly 4,000-square-foot duplex that could be the guest house. It has a grand foyer and great room, a butler’s kitchen, and three-bedroom suites. The main bedroom has a sitting area, a wood-burning fireplace with a marble surround, views of the park, and a bathroom made of marble. It also has access to a loggia that leads to the terrace and is “bordered by the notable green copper pattern cresting on its mansard roof at the top of the Plaza Hotel,” according to the listing.  Records show that the last person to buy the duplex was the owner of the bigger apartment in 2019 for $29 million. The long terrace between the apartments on the 21st floor adds more than 700 square feet of living space. The listing for the Plaza said that the building has a Champagne Bar, a Guerlain spa, a fitness centre, and doorman and concierge services, among other nice features. Plus, it’s only a few steps to Central Park and Fifth Avenue, which has some of the best shopping in the world.
