Madea is followed by Steve Harvey. Those obstacles are always amusing. According to TMZ, comedian-turned-talk-show host Harvey and his wife Marjorie paid $15M for Tyler Perry’s Buckhead property in Atlanta, Georgia.
Harvey and Perry’s content alone might launch a television network. “Showtime at the Apollo”, “Celebrity Family Feud”, and Miss Universe are all hosted by the 63-year-old. Perry has shows on BET, Netflix, OWN, Nickelodeon, and other networks. Both were destitute and lived in their cars before becoming great entertainers.
Perry sold the 35,000-square-foot estate for $17.5M in 2016 after nearly two years on the market with an excessive $25 million asking price. Despite the multimillion-dollar difference between the asking and selling prices, the mansion was Atlanta’s most expensive housing transaction.
Take a deep breath before diving into the various features of the seven-bedroom, 9.5-bath mansion. The setting: 17 acres of manicured grounds, maintained gardens, a 70,000-gallon infinity-edged pool, a tennis court with lighting, a fully equipped gym, and a separate spa.
The lavish home has a guesthouse, guardhouse, detached caretaker suite, sophisticated security system, and a backup generator that can power the entire estate. The main residence features a theatre, indoor pool, vintage cellar, and underground ballroom with a catering kitchen.
According to buckhead.com, David Turner, a former businessman turned evangelist, purchased Perry and sold Harvey. His business and house purchases appear irrational. “I went online and saw this house, and I felt like God told me, ‘This is your house'”, he told the news organization. Turner lost $2.5M when he sold the mansion, not considering carrying costs, improvements, and realtor fees.
