The renowned Brooklyn residence of Notorious B.I.G. is up for sale for $1.7 million, according to The Post.
Born Christopher George Latore Wallace, the legendary New York rapper owned the flat in 1994 and resided there with his wife, Faith Evans, and her daughter, Chyna Tahjere Gryphon.
While residing in the Fort Greene neighbourhood, Biggie Smalls published one of his most notable albums, “Ready to Die.”
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex is located just a few blocks from the street named after the legendary musician.
Through the numerous depictions of Biggie in street art and murals, the magnitude of his legacy can be experienced. The rapper grew up at 226 St. James Place in Clinton Hill. His childhood flat now leases for more than $4,000 per month, as reported by The Post.
Caroline Duncan, the current proprietor, is a renowned costume designer who has worked on award-winning series such as “The Affair” and “When They See Us.”
In 2011, after acquiring the house, Duncan completely remodelled it. The apartment, described as a ‘chic artistic sanctuary’, features a custom library, walk-through closets and ample lofted space.
“When I moved in, the basement was just a raw space with concrete floors,” Duncan told The Post. “I constructed a bathroom with barn wood and contemporary finishes, a massive walk-through closet to display my collection of clothing and accessories, a laundry room and bedrooms.”
She added, “Upstairs had been divided into a series of confusing small rooms, so I did the opposite and tore down all the walls to create a lofted open space.” “I loved the neighbourhood, its proximity to Fort Greene Park, the fact that the building is on the Historic Register, and the fact that it had the bones of a true artist’s residence.”
