Experience the Yacht-Like Elegance of This Water-Floating Home

The designer from Poland, Wojciech Morszty, has a concept for a half-yacht, half-actual residential space that would extend coastlines and address the problem of rising sea levels. “Solve” is a bit of an exaggeration, but a suitable living space would undoubtedly address the issue.

Ocean Community is a concept consisting of mobile pods-houses that would float about 800 metres off the coast.

They are mobile but are not vessels because they are intended as permanent residences. Morszty does not specify what would propel them, but he envisions a future in which they could be used to convey their inhabitants back to land if they so desire, and dock at a stationary centre for life on water.

These shells will effectively aid in the formation of aquatic colonies. They will be completely autonomous and quite luxurious, judging by the images in the gallery. They will be luxurious, but not precisely designed for family life (imagine a child running around in that immaculate, sparse, futuristic living space!).

In addition to being self-sufficient, the floating residences would utilise renewable energy sources such as water, sun, and wind. This would enable for a completely self-sufficient, off-grid lifestyle at sea. For everything else, residents could float back to land to ensure they obtained it.

“The creation of these new structures will serve as fully functional living spaces connected to existing land infrastructure, allowing new ocean communities to become a natural extension of coastal cities,” explains Morszty regarding the concept.
