Abeking & Rasmussen Delivers Majestic 388-Foot Superyacht ‘Livao

Abeking & Rasmussen, with a rich history spanning 115 years, has just delivered its largest superyacht to date, christened Livao. This impressive vessel measures a staggering 388 feet in length and features a commanding sleek black hull, making it a standout in the German shipyard’s portfolio. Abeking & Rasmussen has a legacy of delivering more than 6,500 vessels over the past century, and Livao is undoubtedly its most significant luxury superyacht.

Joseph Dirand Architecture took charge of both the interior and exterior design of Livao. The Parisian design firm aimed to seamlessly incorporate the necessary technical elements while preserving the yacht’s striking silhouette. For example, they opted for underwater anchors, which are more discreet than traditional anchor pockets, and also enhance efficiency and maneuverability.

Designer Joseph Dirand expressed his vision for the yacht, saying, “I wanted this boat to be timeless, elegant, pure, thin, classic, contemporary with a large amount of outdoor space to be immersive with the surrounding landscape. This is exactly what I see when I look at it today—the black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic.”

With a generous beam of 55 feet, Livao offers ample interior space, with cabins for 12 guests and accommodations for 33 crew members. The yacht is equipped with a plethora of amenities, including the Neptune Lounge, featuring a massive underwater window that provides breathtaking underwater views. The crow’s nest at the foot of the mast offers even more panoramic vistas. The main deck boasts a 40-foot marble-clad pool that can be raised to the upper deck when not in use. Additional highlights include a helipad on the sky deck and a luxurious alfresco lounge on the sundeck.

Livao is not only opulent but also functional. The lower deck garage can accommodate a 52-foot day boat, while the larger main deck garage can house three tenders, a seven-person Triton submersible, and various water toys.

In terms of performance, Livao is no slouch. It features a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system consisting of two 2,200 kW electric motors, two 2,240 kW Caterpillar main generators, and three 599 kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators. This setup enables the yacht to reach a top speed of 18 knots and provides a remarkable range of 7,100 nautical miles at 15 knots. Additionally, Livao is known for its exceptional quietness while at sea, according to Abeking & Rasmussen.
