Mangusta 165 REV N1: Unleashing 10,400 Horsepower in Pursuit of Speed

To propel a 165-foot superyacht like the Italian-built Overmarine Mangusta 165 REV to nearly 40 mph, you need an impressive amount of horsepower. In the case of N1, this astonishing feat is achieved with a whopping 10,400 horsepower.

Engage the throttles, and N1 unleashes its impressive power, driven by four 2,600 hp Rolls-Royce MTU 16-cylinder turbo-diesel engines, each connected to a Kongsberg-Kamewa water jet that delivers a spectacular rooster-tail effect.

However, when you ease off the throttle, the Mangusta’s planing hull design allows it to maintain a comfortable cruising speed of 35 mph for approximately 650 nautical miles, thanks to its substantial 10,500-gallon fuel tanks. For those seeking to refuel for that level of speed, expect to pay around $47,000 for each tank.

“She’s designed to go fast, very fast,” says Captain Ömer Balkan, owner and listing broker at BTWO Marine in Bodrum, Turkey. “The Mangusta 165 REV is arguably the fastest yacht in the 160-foot category. Being on board such a large vessel when it’s running at 35 knots is an exhilarating experience.”

As the name suggests, N1 is the first hull in Overmarine’s latest Mangusta 165 REV series. Launched in July of the previous year, the yacht was promptly delivered to its Dubai-based owner after its debut at the Monaco boat show in September.

After the show, the yacht was docked in Bodrum on Turkey’s Aegean coast until June when the owner took it out for its maiden voyage. Captain Balkan notes that the MTU engines have logged less than 130 hours of operation.

Given that the next delivery slot in the 165 REV series by Overmarine is in 2026, this presents a unique opportunity to acquire essentially the first and lightly used model from this renowned brand. Interested buyers should be prepared to spend €36 million, approximately $39 million, to take ownership.

Designed by the Overmarine Group based in Viareggio, Italy, in collaboration with the acclaimed Spanish studio Lobanov Design, the 165 REV features a composite hull that replaces the previous Mangusta 165.

The new exterior design draws inspiration from sleek 1930s Italian sports cars, evident in the yacht’s long foredeck, raked-back windshield resembling the hood and windshield of a vintage Alfa Romeo.

This inspiration also manifests in the dramatic hull-side windows and slatted air intakes towards the stern. The flybridge is intentionally kept discreet to maintain a sleek and low-profile look.

Another standout feature is the new beach club at the stern. With the press of a button, the bottom-hinged stern door opens outward, akin to the rumble seat of a 1930s Ford Model A, revealing a spacious teak-decked swim platform and elegant teak swim steps.

Extra-wide side decks lead to an expansive foredeck, equipped with sun lounging areas, dining spaces, and a Jacuzzi at the bow. This area boasts a sportscar-inspired windshield, allowing guests to sit upfront and fully appreciate the ride.
