Harrison Eidsgaard has just unveiled the expedition yacht’s royal jewel.
The new concept is known as Rex, which is Latin for “king.” Appropriately, the 417-foot vessel has a regal exterior that attracts attention on the high seas, as well as a regal assortment of amenities.
The UK design studio penned the vessel for an exacting client who was craving “something different.” As a result, all typical superyacht characteristics have been amplified for the upper stratum.
Suite of the princely proprietor is an example. It offers its discerning inhabitant four private terraces, two jacuzzis, and a private fitness centre. The 10 guest suites are located in the yacht’s centre, and each has its own terrace and direct access to both the forward and aft atrium staircases.
On board, loyal subjects can anticipate to witness breathtaking seascapes. The yacht is crowned by the Panorama Lounge, which provides 360-degree views, an observation lounge with access to a jacuzzi, and the Neptune Lounge, which provides ideal underwater views.
Additionally, seafarers will have access to a variety of remarkable amenities. On the main deck, there is a 46-foot pool that can be encased in glass to allow swimming even in frigid climates. In addition, there is a large cinema, a two-story fitness centre and salon, as well as multiple lounges for relaxing.
There are also two smaller helipads and a large helicopter shelter that can accommodate an Airbus A160 and convert into a squash court if desired. The vessel is also equipped with a full-beam hangar that can accommodate a 49-foot expedition vessel, two 30-foot tenders, and a large crane for launching the toys.
As for performance, Rex features a prominent hull chine and a pointed bow for enhanced fuel economy and more comfortable sailing in turbulent seas. Harrison Eidsgaard envisions a hybrid propulsion system that, in the future, could be converted to a hydrogen system for zero-emissions travel.
On the surface, Rex undoubtedly merits the title of King of the Seas.
