Kanye West’s Lavish $14M Miami Apartment Gift to Kim Kardashian when they were still married

Kanye West purchased Kim Kardashian a $14 million luxury condo in Miami for Christmas, but she wasn’t thrilled with it. As a result, the rapper is now in the awkward position of having to back out of the deal. According to Page Six, the stunning 4,700-square-foot beachfront condominium was recently put back on the market after West reneged on a $600,000 deposit for the property.

He had initially purchased it as a surprise for Kardashian after seeing it during Art Basel, but according to the report, the purchase is now off; as a result, West will lose his six-figure deposit—but, thankfully, nothing else. While reports point to Kardashian’s discontent, West spins a different story, blaming “leaks” surrounding the transaction for his decision. According to insiders, this reasoning is illogical given that West made his purchase public knowledge. When he arrived at the “billionaire beach bunker” he was pursued by paparazzi and accompanied by an entourage and film crew to inspect the property.

A representative for West responded that none of these reasons are valid. “When Kim and Kanye visited Miami after Christmas to view the condo, Kim loved it but felt it was too public for them,” the representative said. They are currently searching for a vacation home that is more secluded and offers their family more privacy.

The four-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom condo, located in an 18-story building with tenants such as ex-Goldman Sachs chairman Lloyd Blankfein, billionaire Len Blavatnik, and sugar tycoon José Fanjul Jr., featured all the amenities one might expect from a super-luxury condo: a private fitness centre, spa, pool, concierge, and underground parking. Additionally, the unit that West purchased featured a wraparound terrace with views of the shore and city.

Currently, the couple and their three (soon to be four) children reside predominantly in their Hidden Hills, California, residence, which they renovated with the assistance of renowned architect Axel Vervoordt and moved back into in December 2017.
