The Spanish yacht design firm Daroca Design has unveiled the Mirage, an 83-meter superyacht concept.
Mirage was designed in collaboration with Lateral Naval Architects, utilising their Free From Bulkheads platform to challenge conventional superyacht architecture by allowing impermeable bulkheads to terminate at the lower deck. The resulting design principle, which is shared on Lateral’s website, assures that “above deck, anything is possible, unrestricted by the technical components.”
According to the company, Mirage’s minimalist design “blends seamlessly with the landscape on the water, allowing the owner to feel at one with nature and enjoy the sea in every moment.” Exterior renderings reveal long swaths of reflective glass, a semi-opaque aft, and a gleaming, metallic hull and superstructure, evidently drawing inspiration from the ship’s namesake optical illusion.
The yacht has five cabins, with four guest cabins located in the vessel’s stern on the lower deck. In the master cabin, a skylight positioned next to the mast silhouette is a notable design element. This distinguishes the yacht’s profile while allowing natural light to flood the cabin, producing a light and airy living area.
The main deck aft is designed to be the primary social area, with a bar, U-shaped settee seating and a large swimming pool. On the terrace above is a complementary tiered mosaic plunge pool. The primary saloon, located on the lower deck, features 270-degree ocean views and floor-to-ceiling glass walls with three sliding doors.
A complete spa is located forward of the main deck, and a helipad is located on the bow.
Mirage is Daroca Design’s second-largest concept to date, with the 105-meter, “champagne-green” explorer Equilibrium unveiled in 2021 being the largest.
