Oceanco has released new details and renderings of its 90-meter hybrid superyacht concept Kairos, which was created in collaboration with Pininfarina.
The update coincides with the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show and follows the March 2021 introduction of the concept.
The Dutch shipyard describes life aboard the 90-meter yacht as being “limitless.” “Its exterior has been designed to evoke a tranquil oasis where you can relax and spend time on your own terms,” the builder explained.
Kairos is described as a “floating, living island” with a symmetrical profile and no “forward direction.”
This eliminates the sense of urgency to reach a new destination, allowing passengers to live entirely in the present moment, according to Oceanco.
A “vast, theatrical piazza” spanning three levels is also characterised as breaking “the rules of conventional yacht design.”
All visitor and owner quarters are located on the lower deck, allowing for “a greater sense of space and flow throughout the main level’s guest areas.”
The manufacturer disclosed additional information about the E-Hybrid propulsion system, which utilises batteries as the primary source of energy. In the meantime, diesel generators are utilised for battery charging and high-speed travel. Oceanco states that the result is “no noise, lower vibrations, and zero local emissions.”
Kairos, designed by Lateral Naval Architects with Oceanco’s NXT sustainability initiative in mind and named after the ancient Greek word for “time,” features technical design and engineering.
Oceanco’s chief executive officer, Marcel Onkenhout, had previously stated regarding the concept, “Kairos is a remarkable vision shared by three passionate, forward-thinking partners: Pininfarina, Lateral, and Oceanco.”
