Sienna Miller, the British-American star of “Extrapolations” at 41 years old, who was recently captured enjoying some Saint-Tropez sunshine alongside her 26-year-old boyfriend Oli Green, has successfully sold her discreet West Village townhouse for $5.3 million.
Interestingly, this sale comes at a slightly lower figure than the $5.4 million she had initially paid for the property in 2021, as exclusively reported by Gimme Shelter.
In a conversation with podcaster Bruce Bozzi, Miller revealed that she decided to make the move back to London after her affection for New York City waned. The “American Sniper” actress, who purchased the townhouse towards the end of 2021 through an LLC, had initially listed it for $5.75 million.
Born in New York and raised in the UK, Miller had been residing at 38 Bedford St. with her 10-year-old daughter, Marlowe, whom she shares with her ex-fiancé Tom Sturridge.
She explained that her infatuation with New York began at the age of 18 when she found the city to be a potent and captivating place. Despite years of living a “nomadic” rental lifestyle, she finally decided to acquire the townhouse.
However, a rather unpleasant incident soon dampened her enthusiasm. She recounted, “A week after moving in, I opened the front door to take my daughter to school and there was a human s–t on my doorstep.” She humorously added that she resorted to lifting her daughter over the mess and carried on with her day.
This unsettling event, coupled with her dissatisfaction over the lack of accessible healthcare and the prevalence of mass shootings, prompted Miller to reevaluate her priorities and opt to return to the UK.
Miller has a fondness for historic homes on both sides of the Atlantic. Her West Village residence dates back to 1836. Additionally, she owns a delightful 16th-century thatched-roof English cottage in Buckinghamshire, featured in Architectural Digest and restored by her director friend Gaby Dellal.
Despite her short ownership of the New York property, Miller made a minor loss on the sale.
The townhouse, spanning 20 feet in width across four stories, boasts a garden. Inside, the high ceilings, six fireplaces, original parquet floors, and shutters contribute to its charm. The garden level includes a windowed kitchen, a separate dining area with a fireplace, and a sitting area overlooking the garden, beside another fireplace. This room is accentuated by original wood-beamed ceilings and hardwood floors.
On the parlor floor, elevated ceilings create an entertaining space with two wood-burning fireplaces and windows on either end of the room. An area in the corner could easily serve as a home office or guest bedroom. The third floor encompasses two spacious bedrooms with oversized windows, while the fourth floor houses the main bedroom suite.
The property records identify the buyer as Olivia Windisch, a French-Austrian and award-winning creative director known for her work with fashion designers like Chloé, Tom Ford, and Jimmy Choo. She most recently headed David Yurman’s creative department, according to her social media profiles.
