Drake Features Mercedes’ Project Maybach X Virgil Abloh Concept

Drake has an impressive collection of automobiles, so he can be considered a vehicle enthusiast. This is nowhere more evident than in his most recent music video for the song “Sticky.”

The video features the one-of-a-kind luxury off-roader, Project Maybach x Virgil Abloh, for the latest single from his most recent album, Honestly, Nevermind. Drake is observed by a lake donning fishing gear, and the car’s rugged appearance is exploited.

Mercedes’ ultra-luxury affiliate Maybach and the influential fashion designer and polymath Virgil Abloh collaborated to produce the vehicle. Described as a “two-seater, battery electric off-road coupe,” it is a no-holds-barred glimpse at what luxury EV design could look like.

The concept combines old school design elements (the long hood and coupe body lines) with off-road additions (an external roll-cage and massive all-terrain tyres) and a retro-futuristic interior.

Sadly, the Project Maybach x Virgil Abloh was one of the designer’s final endeavours, despite being an intriguing example of forward-thinking design in its own right. After being diagnosed with cardiac angiosarcoma in 2019, Abloh unfortunately passed away just days before the debut of the vehicle at the age of 41.

After its debut, the automobile was displayed at the Rubell Museum in Miami, Florida. Theo Skudra directed Drake’s most recent music video, for which he posted a photo of the vehicle wrapped in plastic on Instagram prior to its release.

Given his history of enthusiasm, his excitement at being allowed to photograph with the car was perhaps predictable. According to the Dupont Registry, the Canadian rapper has previously possessed a Ferrari LaFerrari, Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, Rolls-Royce Cullinan by Chrome Hearts, and additional luxury vehicles.

Mercedes will undoubtedly be delighted with the artist’s inclusion of its concept vehicle. The video has been viewed 1.8 million times since its release on August 2, and the album on which it appears, Honestly, Nevermind, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in June.
