Fernando Alonso’s First-Built Ferrari Enzo Up for Auction

Next month, Fernando Alonso’s prized Ferrari Enzo, which he has possessed for the past 12 years, will be put up for auction and could fetch €5 million ($5.36 million). It would be the most expensive Enzo ever sold.

While it is unclear why Alonso is parting ways with the renowned Italian supercar, the fact that it is the very first Enzo produced, officially known as Scocca n.1, makes it particularly special. Moreover, the vehicle has only been driven 4,800 kilometres (2,983 miles) and appears to be in exceptional condition.

The vehicle is being offered for sale by Monaco Car Auctions as part of its L’AstaRossa auction, which also features 41 other prestigious Ferrari models. Unfortunately, the auction house has provided very little information about Alonso’s Enzo, such as a report detailing its ownership history and movements over the years. What we do know is that it is completed in the popular Rosso Corsa colour and comes with a Ferrari Classiche Red Book attesting to its status as the first Enzo produced.

Carbon fibre seats wrapped in black Alcantara with red stitching and red Prancing Horse insignia on the headrests are an intriguing feature of Alonso’s Enzo. Many other Enzos departed the factory with leather, cloth, or a combination of the two for their seats.

While Alonso’s Enzo may be the most expensive example currently on the market, it is not the one with the fewest miles. A 2003 Ferrari Enzo in silver with only 141 miles (227 km) on the odometer was listed for sale in Ontario, Canada in March.

The Ferrari Enzo was originally equipped with a 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that produced 651 horsepower. This engine is exclusively coupled to a six-speed automated manual gearbox with toggle shifters that transmits power to the rear wheels.
