Introducing Onda – The 50m Trimaran Concept

Onda is a novel 50-meter trimaran concept designed by the Italian studio of Francesco Struglia.

The peculiar exterior design of Onda, which is named after the Italian word for “wave,” revolves around a sharp trimaran hull with glass-covered sides, asymmetric aft decks, and a sloping, glass-covered forward deck.

The concept features a beam of 9.8 meters and a number of intelligent design decisions to keep the yacht as broad as feasible while maintaining a low displacement.

According to Francesco Struglia of the eponymous design studio, the asymmetrical decks allow for spectacular vistas and the “management of shaded and sunny areas in an entirely new rhythm.”

According to Struglia, the interior architecture is more predictable than the exterior. To ensure minimal overlap between personnel and guest areas, the wheelhouse, crew quarters, and other technical spaces are located in the forward portion of the vessel.

On the upper deck amidships, the owner’s suite is separated into a 90-square-metre apartment with access to a private panoramic terrace with Jacuzzi.

The yacht offers three discrete lounge areas, including a 60-square-metre beach club, in terms of social areas. In addition, there is a 5,3-meter-long pool on the bow and a tender garage that can hold a 9-meter tender transversely.

According to Struglia, Onda is the ideal combination of a “contemporary architectural structural concept” and a “experimental layout.”

It would be equipped with twin MTU engines that, at 10 speeds, would provide a range of 4,500 nautical miles.
