From Foreclosure to Luxury Living: Nas’ $3.5 Million Calabasas Mansion and Grammy Triumph

In 2012, hip-hop legend Nasir “Nas” Jones faced a public foreclosure on his Georgia house due to tax delinquency. However, his fortunes have improved since then. Recently, he moved into a $3.5 million mansion in Calabasas’ semi-rural outskirts and celebrated his first Grammy win for the rap album “King’s Disease” after 14 nominations.

The 2007 Mediterranean-meets-Southwestern style home was originally listed for $2.5 million but eventually fetched a higher price due to its attractive features and 10+ acre property, sparking a bidding battle.

Hidden behind a long driveway and protected by gates and cameras, Nas’ new home offers breathtaking mountain views. The multilevel residence features a double-height foyer with a wrought-iron staircase and a motor court with an eight-car garage.

The main floor includes a living area with a fireplace, built-in bookshelves, and glass sliders leading to a patio. The gourmet kitchen boasts a central island, Viking appliances, granite countertops, a breakfast nook, butler’s pantry, fireplace in the family room, formal dining room, and an office.

The home also boasts a large wine cellar with a tasting area and a billiards room with a wet bar. The luxurious master retreat includes a two-way fireplace, sitting area, private balcony, dual walk-in closets, a gym, and a spa-like bathroom with a jetted soaking tub and steam shower. The backyard offers an outdoor dining terrace with a built-in BBQ and a grotto-style pool featuring a Jacuzzi, waterfall, and water slide. A rooftop balcony with endless views completes the property.

Nas, aged 48, made his debut in 1991 on Main Source’s “Live at the Barbecue” and gained massive success with his debut album “Illmatic” in 1994. Over the years, he has sold over 25 million records and earned eight platinum albums, becoming MTV’s “Greatest MC of All Time.” With a net worth of around $70 million, Nas is not only a renowned rapper but also a record producer, entrepreneur, and actor.

The real estate transaction was handled by Alex Duk of Harcourts Beverly Hills representing Nas, while Angela Waters of Harcourts Prime Properties listed the mansion for sale.
