Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day,” “Southpaw,” “The Equalizer”), a veteran film director (“Training Day,” “Southpaw,” “The Equalizer”), has purchased a brand-new modern farmhouse in the posh gated community of Hidden Hills, despite his drama “Emancipation” starring Will Smith being put on indefinite hold due to the infamous Oscars slap scandal.
Built in 2017 and originally listed for just under $11 million, Fuqua and his wife, “Waiting to Exhale” actress Lela Rochon, purchased the residence for $10.8 million, according to property documents.
Formerly a music video director — he directed the 1995 “Gangsta’s Paradise” video for rapper Coolio, which has received over 1 billion views on YouTube — the Pittsburgh native, now 57 years old, has become one of Hollywood’s most prolific film directors. The docuseries “Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers,” which will premiere on Hulu on August 15th, is one of his most recent endeavors.
Fans can also anticipate much more from the in-demand director in the future. Fuqua has signed lucrative agreements with Paramount and Netflix over the past year to create and develop TV shows and feature films.
The recently acquired estate of Fuqua consists of six bedrooms and nine bathrooms spread across roughly 9,000 square feet of open-concept living space with high ceilings and white oak flooring throughout.
