Dr. Dre’s Dual Talents: Copyright Protection and Real Estate Sales – Selling a $6M Property Amidst ‘Still DRE’ Success

“Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” for Dr. Dre! The rapper, musician, and producer sold one of his Los Angeles homes days after selling Universal Music and Shamrock Holdings many music income streams and certain owned music properties for over $200 million.

Records reveal Dre sold a luxurious Calabasas property to an anonymous buyer for $6 million, $1 million more than he paid for it in April 2018. Dr. Dre threatened to sue congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene for utilizing his 1999 song “Still D.R.E.” without permission.

The late-1990s Mountain View Estates estate is guard-gated. The ad claims that substantial renovations spending over a million dollars have converted it into a showplace. The cream-colored stucco and terracotta-roofed building features roughly 9,400 square feet of two-level living space with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, wide-plank oak flooring, soaring ceilings, designer light fixtures, and high-end granite, marble, and tile finishes.

A gated road leads to a motorcourt and an eight-car garage in front of the house. In a secluded cul-de-sac, it sits on over three-quarters of an acre. A portico-topped doorway leads to a double-height foyer with a spiral wrought-iron staircase that leads to a large formal dining room and a sunken living room with a dramatic fireplace and French doors to the outside.

An eat-in island, high-end stainless appliances, a breakfast nook, and a built-in workstation are in the main floor’s gourmet kitchen. The family area has a walk-in wet bar and chairs. The upper master suite has a fireside lounging area, wraparound balcony, dual walk-in closets, and a luxury bathroom.

Palm trees dot the green grounds of the luxurious amenities. Here, you’ll find a fire-pit area, a pool and spa surrounded by a flagstone sundeck, a patio kitchen, a single pizza oven, a sport court, and a gorgeous stone fountain with views of the hillside.
