Silent 120 Explorer: The Ultimate Luxury Yacht Redefining Boundaries with Onboard Aircraft and Submarine
Austrian solar catamaran company Silent-Yachts has partnered with aerospace architects VRCO and U-Boat Worx to equip its new 36.7-meter Silent 120 Explorer catamaran with an aircraft and submarine.
Eco-friendly expeditions inspired the 2024 superyacht project. The yacht’s 40kWp solar modules will power its hotel mode and recharge an electric VTOL plane and U-Boat Worx NEMO submersible. The Explorer’s 13.85-meter beam landing pad may be created by sliding the solar panels outboard port and starboard.
Silent-Yachts CEO Michael Kohler said larger yachts with more elegance, comfort, water toys, and alternatives are an increasing trend. We created the Silent 120 Explorer to store more of these products due to its higher capacity but shorter length. “We build catamarans,” he said.
Solar power and electric propulsion allow up space for gyms and tender stowage on our yachts. Finally, the catamaran’s beam can fit an eVTOL aircraft on its roof. Plugging it in charges it in two hours on board.
The four-passenger aircraft has detection and avoidance, a ballistic parachute, and low-altitude ejection systems. 2024 will certify the tech.
The U-Boat Worx NEMO submarine dives 100 meters for two people in an all-electric package smaller than two jet skis. It can run for eight hours at three knots and automatically resurface.
The multihull model, which was initially conceived of by Marco Casali as the Silent 100 but has subsequently been lengthened by roughly six meters, was originally named for the vessel’s sail number.
The outstanding internal volume of the new Silent 120 Explorer comes in at 499GT, providing owners with plenty of room to customize their vehicle. The combined space for relaxing offered by the interior and exterior comes to a total of 900 square meters.
Lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 800 kW provide power to electric motors with a rating of 340 kW, making it possible to go an infinite distance. It is projected that she will have a speed of eight knots while cruising, with a maximum speed of sixteen knots.
Even though the Silent 120’s administrative offices are located in Austria, the structure itself is now being built in Turkey, right near the 25-meter Silent VisionF 82. As part of an exclusive partnership with VisionF Yachts of Turkey, the fabrication of these aluminum models is currently underway on four different yachts.
